As we head into the business end of this season, it’s looking like the whole team are really starting to buy into this journey that the club is on. With just three games to go, the Huskies are still in touching distance of the league title and coming into fine form in the process, picking up huge wins on the road against opposition who have been real bogey teams for us in the past. We are unbeaten in 8 including wins against Swindon, Basingstoke, Bristol, Solent and most recently away in Cardiff, where a huge effort from the lads ensured we left with 2-points and as the only team to have completely shut Cardiff out in their own barn this season. From a personal opinion, I’d even go to say that this was one of the best performances I’ve witnessed whilst playing for the Huskies, and it puts us in great shape going into the last few games.

Standing in the way of the league title is two massive top-of-the-table clashes against Guildford, taking them on at home next weekend before the return game the following weekend in Guildford, after our final home meeting with Bristol. Although Guildford pipped us to the cup earlier this year, a tight second game draw in Guildford highlighted that on our day we know we can beat them, and I don’t think the games could come at a better time for us, with players coming back from injury and the boys gelling and playing some great hockey.

One thing I can be sure of, is that the home support is going to play a huge part in those games, so we need as many people as possible to get down and support the boys. I can guarantee all emotions will probably be experienced at some point in the game, and it certainly won’t be short of entertainment. So far this season the fans have been incredible. Every season I play I don’t think the support can get any better, any louder; but each year I am proven wrong. Even the support at away games has been fantastic, with fans journeying out to Bristol and Cardiff in the process. Keep up the support, and give it everything for the last few games, as I know the lads will do for you.

I always like to take this opportunity to recognize some great performances within the team over the last few weeks. Everyone has been on top form so I could probably list a whole wrath of names but to name a few: Big Sammy Roberts is stepping up as a leader on the ice scoring some huge goals at key moments; rookie Brad Taylor has started to grow in confidence and is starting to put in some solid performances in defense, even if his celebration game needs some serious work; Ryan McFarlane has jumped straight back into the line-up as if he’d never been away, I’d even go as far as saying there must be something in that Scottish water and haggis, as he’s playing some unreal hockey at the moment, a great addition for the run in. The ever-reliant Hepburns, Stu Appleby and Parky have been going about their business as usual and both Luke Clark and Tom Adams in net have been sublime, both recording shut-outs over the last few weeks. To have this kind of depth across the whole team is what has given us so much success this season so far. So, when everyone is putting in a shift, as we are at the moment, it’s a good situation to be in.

Elsewhere in the room we’re delighted Quaggs has finished attending his vegan spa weekend breaks to join us at games again, Pete has been working hard in between his masters to improve his Call of Duty game and we’ve missed PC Jenner over the last few weeks as he continues to rid crime from the streets of London.

Only a few weeks left, this is where it gets exciting. Stay safe and I look forward to seeing many of you at one of the final upcoming games!
