Leonardo De Souza Saoncella Azevedo has signed up for your Haringey Huskies for the 2022/23 season.

The 20-year-old Brazilian/Italian winger told us: “I’m honoured and excited to be back for another season with the Huskies. Last year was a blast; even though it didn’t go our way in the end, I had the best time with the team on and off the ice. I can’t wait to get back on the ice and see the fans back at the Palace”.

Leo joined the team as a 17-year-old on transfer deadline day in January 2020, helping the club win its first silverware at the end of that season. He stayed with us through the two 2021 ‘Spring Cup’ streaming series before finally getting to play his first full season for the club last time around.

Head coach Dan Sampson anticipates that there is plenty more to come from Leo, telling us: “Leo is an exciting talent who is still developing. He has good speed, skates well, has good hands and a good shot. I feel this season will be a breakout year for Leo; we really believe in him here at the Huskies and I am happy he has agreed to return. I’m sure the fans will be excited.”

Look out for our 2022/23 ‘Own and Loan’ scheme, which will be launched later in June.
