About Us
About us / History
Haringey Huskies were formed in spring 2017 by Lee Mercer in partnership with Alexandra Palace, the iconic, Victorian venue in North London whose ice rink is our home. We play in the National Ice Hockey League and currently contest Division 2 South.
Huskies first ever game was away at Basingstoke Buffalo on 10th September 2017, with Ben Osborne scoring the club’s first goal.
The first two seasons saw the club playing in an expanded NIHL South 2 and establish itself as a team that could compete but would ultimately finish in the bottom half of the table.
After the NIHL restructure in summer 2019, Huskies had a breakout season picking up our first silverware by winning the south-east division of NIHL2. That season also saw the club play NIHL1 opposition for the first time by entering the South 1 Cup, picking up a memorable victory over the Invicta Dynamos along the way.
In spring 2021 during the Covid-19 pandemic, Huskies participated in the EIHA ‘Streaming Series’ South Cup and RuggedStock Cup competitions. Once again, these games saw us competing against NIHL1 opposition, the experience of which should hold us in good stead as we enter the 2021/22 season.
