Sunday’s game was a tough one to take.
We came out strong and played some really solid hockey for large parts of the game. The effort was there, the structure was good, and we created plenty of chances — but once again, we switched off at key moments and were punished for it.
It’s frustrating because, once again, we outshot our opponents. As a team, we need to start turning those opportunities into goals. The chances are there, but we’re not making them count — and at the same time, we’re giving goals away far too easily. At this level, you can’t afford to hand teams goals or momentum; every mistake gets punished.
We’ve also been missing some key players over the last few games through injury, and that’s something we have to recognise. But the lads who’ve stepped up have shown great commitment and work rate — the effort across the squad has been first-class.
As a coaching team, we feel that once we cut out the errors and tighten up in key moments, the wins will come. We’re close, but we need to earn every inch of it — nothing’s given in this league.
We’ll get back to work this week, focus on the details, and keep pushing. Proud of the compete, proud of the group — but we have to stop giving games away.
