Your Key & Eagle Digital Media sponsored Haringey Huskies have signed defender Corey Taylor on a two-way arrangement.
16-year-old Corey plays his junior hockey for Milton Keynes Storm under-18s. The arrangement allows Corey to play for the Huskies when there is no clash of games.
Corey has been training with the club for a few weeks and got his first taste of action last weekend. Supporters at the home game will have seen him get a couple of shifts in the third period. Our travelling fans at Oxford saw him clock some big minutes on Sunday night as part of a five man defensive rotation, where he acquitted himself very well.
Head coach Dan Sampson told us: “I am happy to be able to add Corey to our team. We are looking at the development of younger players and Corey fits this.
“Having made his debut on Saturday he had to jump in at the deep end on Sunday due to us being short benched and he stepped up to the challenge. Corey plays the game smart and simple, skates well, and is not afraid to make a hit.”
Corey commented: “I’m really happy to have the opportunity to join Haringey Huskies. It was a great experience to play in front of a lot of amazing fans on Saturday against Streatham and also travel with the guys to get a win on the road against Oxford.
“I know I can learn a lot from the experienced players on the team and they have all been really great to me so far. I’m really looking forward to contributing where I can to the Huskies’ success.”
Corey is not available for our game tomorrow in Chelmsford due to a clash with his junior club, but you will see plenty of him over the remainder of the season. We would like to thank Milton Keynes Storm for their collaboration.
